LIBERAL PARTY ENDS CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY WITH DECLARATION

( Editorial: --> 6980 ) ZAGREB, Jan 24 (Hina) - The constituent assembly of the Liberal Party ended Saturday with the adoption of a statute, programme and a programme declaration. The programme declaration points out the individual and his freedom as the starting points of a liberal teaching and a liberal and democratic view of the world. In its declaration, the newly-established Liberal Party advocates a parliamentary government for Croatia, decentralisation and developed local self-government. The Liberal Party highly stress ecology, human rights and civil freedoms, as well as a culture of dialogue and tolerance. Every citizen must have identical chances for success and acceptance in Croatia, regardless of their ethnic, religious, sexual, political, regional or other belonging, the Liberal Party points out. They also advocate free association of citizens, open media and freedom of reporting, and the independence of the journalistic profession. The Liberal Party stand for social balance, a better position of pensioners and a solution to unemployment. The basic economic goal is a modern trade economy, the declaration said.
