ZAGREB, Dec 11 (Hina) - British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook on Saturday extended his condolences to the Tudjman family and the entire Croatian people on the occasion of the passing of Croatian President Franjo Tudjman. Tudjman led
his country to independence and was the signatory of the Dayton peace agreement from 1995, Cook said in a statement delivered to Hina by the British Embassy in Zagreb. Cook said this was a difficult but crucial moment for Croatia. Great Britain expects the Croatian government to make sure that impending parliamentary elections are held as scheduled and in keeping with European standards, he added. A clear commitment to settle issues which have been cause for concern at the European Union (EU) for some time will pave the way for new, more productive relations between Croatia and EU countries, Cook said.(hina) ha
