occasion of the death of Croatian President and armed forces
supreme commander Franjo Tudjman.
Miljavac said President Tudjman had created Croatia's armed force,
of which he had been proud. He knew that without an independent,
sovereign state, which the Croatian army would defend, the Croatian
people would not survive, the minister said, pointing out this was
the reason why President Tudjman had remained a model of how we must

Croatian army chief-of-staff viceadmiral Davor Domazet said that
under the leadership and command of supreme commander Tudjman,
Croatia's soldiers, commissioned and non-commissioned officers
had learned how to win, and that Croatian victories had marked
Europe's and the world's recent history.
President Tudjman has left us with the task to reorganise the
Croatian army which will be able to respond to the challenges of the
future, defend Croatia's borders in peacetime, and if necessary, to
once again prove its force through war operations.
