ZAGREB, Dec 10 (Hina) - The Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) on
Friday requested of the Croatian constitutional Court to warn the
Croatian government and the National Directorate for State
Government and Local Self-Government about illegal conduct
regarding the insight into the lists of voters for the upcoming
parliamentary elections.
The HSLS recalled that the Government had on December 2 refused a
request made by the party that lists of voters be submitted on
computer discs.
The Government maintained that, in line with the Law on Lists of
Candidates, the lists would not be submitted to political parties.
The Government also asserted that county and Zagreb city
administration offices are obliged to enable members of all
political parties to look at the lists of voters.
The HSLS deems that by such conduct the Government had seriously
brought into question the constitutionality and lawfulness of the
upcoming elections, as the HSLS, as well as other political
parties, have a legal right to freely look into the lists of voters
as public books, the statement said.
The party stressed the Government's decision was not founded on
positive regulations.
