OPPOSITION SIX PROTESTS AGAINST NEWS COVERAGE IN FAVOUR OF HDZ

ZAGREB, Nov 29 (Hina) - Croatia's Opposition Six coalition on Monday protested due to, it claims, the increased difference in the duration of Croatian Television (HTV) news coverage in favour of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). Representatives of the coalition's parties in charge of following HTV broadcasting said in a statement that the 27 November evening news broadcast coverage of a HDZ press conference was twice as long as the one given to an Opposition Six press conference. "It is obvious it was not enough for the evening news editor that the feature on the HDZ press conference lasted twice as long as the feature on the Opposition Six press conference, there also had to be a commentary which, among else, had to explain to the citizens that the 'opposition had kicked the ball in its own goal in parliament', while the HDZ 'from a movement had become a party'," said the statement. The representatives of the Opposition Six believe the 27 November broadcast of late evening news show "Motrista" 27 also increased the differences in the content and duration of features in favour of the HDZ. The Opposition Six includes the Croatian Social Liberal Party, the Social Democratic Party, the Liberal Party, the Istrian Democratic Assembly, the Croatian Peasants' Party, the Croatian People's Party.
