ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - The Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister and a
member of the Croatian Democratic Union's (HDZ) Presidency, Ivo
Sanader, at Friday's press conference held by the HDZ, expressed
satisfaction with results of the participation of Croatia's
delegation in the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in
Europe's (OSCE) conference in Istanbul.
Sanader said he hoped that the role of the OSCE Mission to Croatia,
would change. The OSCE Mission to Croatia's mandate is to expire in
the near future, and Sanader stressed Croatia was ready to except
its extension in a redefined form.
Such a standpoint on Croatia's behalf received OSCE's support, as
well as the support of international factors at a conference in
Istanbul, during bilateral talks headed by Croatian Prime Minister
Zlatko Matesa and Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic, Sanader
said.
According to him, the significance of the Stability Pact has been
confirmed at the summit in Istanbul, its transparency and
efficiency, as well as its Euro-Atlantic dimension.
Sanader stressed Croatia believed that the Stability Pact could
succeed only with the equal stabilisation treatment of political
parties in the Stability Pact member-countries and enabling those
countries to have access to Euro-Atlantic integration.
Croatia does not agree that the Stability Pact member-countries
should integrate prior to accessing Euro-Atlantic associations as
a precondition, Sanader stressed.
According to a statement by the European Union's Council of
Ministers, Croatia is to invest further efforts into fulfilling
criteria. Sanader said that Croatia accepted such conditions. He
also assessed the statement as "EU's careful opening toward
Croatia".
Sanader expressed Croatia's firm support to the implementation of
the Dayton Agreement and the protection of Bosnian Croats'
interests.
