GENEVA, Oct 18 (Hina) - At an inaugural meeting of the task force for
democratisation and human rights of the Stability Pact for
Southeast Europe held in Geneva on Monday, Croatia offered several
projects, including a project on the organisation of a summit of
presidents of parliaments of countries that participate in the
Stability Pact and which should be held in Zagreb in the first half
of the year 2000.
The task force on democratisation and human rights as well as the
entire Stability Pact must be based on principles of equality among
participants, the transparency of activities and efficiency, the
head of a Croatian delegation and national coordinator for the
Stability Pact, assistant Foreign Minister Vladimir Drobnjak,
said.
According to him, Croatia is categorically against the foundation
of any kind of institutional frames within the Stability Pact which
would open the path for geopolitical concepts that are unacceptable
to Croatia.
"So far, there was no attempts of creating such role of the
Stability Pact in any official document or presentation of
international representatives, if this was to happen Croatia would
immediately correct its position within the Stability Pact.
Croatia sees the Stability Pact as a process of regional
cooperation which should create stabile and safe atmosphere, that
should enable countries in the region to be included in European
integration processes based on individual achievements.
Later in the day and tomorrow, participants of the task force on
democratisation and human rights will continue talks on projects in
the rule of law, responsible governing, the return of refugees, and
