After a meeting with members of the Presidency of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Annan told reporters even today he regretted the
hesitance of the international community to more resolutely act and
prevent the war tragedy in the country.
BH represented for us a great challenge and the tragedy of
Srebrenica will for ever be a burden to our history, Annan said
during his first visit to Bosnia since he became UN Secretary-
General.

Annan said that during talks with members of the BH Presidency, he
had initiated the idea of constructing a memorial centre for all UN
members who had lost their lives during their service in BH.
Presidency chairman Alija Izetbegovic said the state leaders had
supported the idea and offered the establishment of a special
Bosnian troop which would participate in UN peace missions all over
the world.
Annan will stay in Sarajevo on Tuesday as well to pronounce the
first baby born in Sarajevo hospital's maternity ward the six
billionth resident of the planet.
