SPLIT, Oct 11 (Hina) - An international scientific conference on software in telecommunications and computer nets, "SoftCOM '99", will be held between October 13 and 16 on Croatian ship "Marko Polo". The ship will sail in the southern

The ship will sail in the southern Adriatic city of Split and the
northern Adriatic city of Rijeka, as well as the Italian ports of
Venice and Trieste.
The seventh "SoftCOM '99" will be held under the auspices of the
Croatian science and Technology Ministry, the United States
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the
technology centre and the Split faculty of electrical engineering,
mechanical engineering and shipbuilding industry.
The conference will be attended by 300 scientists from the United
States, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and
Croatia.
An economic forum will be held as a part of the conference. The forum
aims at introducing economic potential and development projects of
three regions, participants of the seminar; Primorje-Gorski Kotar
County, Split-Dalmatia County, and Frioli-Venezia Giulia region.
About 40 manufacturers of the high software technology in
telecommunications and computer nets will hold an exhibition on the
"Marko Polo" ship.
Deans from Croatian, Slovene, and Italian universities will hold
talks on the cooperation in scientific projects, exchanging
students, and on the implementation of courses over the Internet.
