October to mark the 700th anniversary of the Ottoman cultural and scientific heritage. The patron of the exhibition, called "Valuables of Ottoman Art", is Croatian President Franjo Tudjman. Speaking to Hina on Friday, exhibition coordinator Biserka Rauter Plancic said the exhibits include 150 masterpieces of Ottoman applied art created between the 15th and 19th century. She said it was interesting to note that the exhibition was one of three Turkey was staging this year to mark the 700th anniversary of the birth of Osman, the leader and founder of the Ottoman dynasty. Sixty percent of the exhibits comes from the leading Turkish museums, and some are mounted outside of Turkey for the first time.

She said it was interesting to note that the exhibition was one of

Sixty percent of the exhibits comes from the leading Turkish

The Zagreb exhibition will include 90 exhibits from the Topkapi
museum, 20 from the Istanbul-based Museum of Turkish and Islamic
Art, ten from Istanbul's famous Archaeological Museum, and 30 from
the Sandberkan Hanim museum on the Bosphorus.
"It is the crowning achievement of the very good and intensive
cultural cooperation between Croatia and Turkey, as confirmed by
the recently signed agreement on cultural exchange and
cooperation," Rauter Plancic said.
She was assisted in coordinating the exhibition's catalogue by
Filiz Cagman, the manager of the Topkapi museum library.
The exhibition closes on 30 November.
