ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - The 75th international autumn fair, which is
to be held from 13 to 18 September in Zagreb, is being organised in
the year when the Zagreb Fair (ZV) celebrates its 90th birthday, the
ZV director-general, Jurica Pavelic, told Wednesday's news
conference.
There will be 2,197 participants from 39 countries who will exhibit
their products at 132,921 square metres of the ZV.
Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman is expected to open the event.
According to some predictions, about 200,000 visitors will tour the
event and 70,000 of them will come for business.
Every year since 1987, particular attention has been paid to
achievements of one country-partner at the event. This year Turkey
is the partner-country.
Turkish Ambassador to Zagreb, Selahatin Alpar, said the decision on
his country's participation in the international fair as the
partner had been made in September1997 during Turkish President
Suleyman Demirel's official visit to Croatia.
Turkey will put its products on display in a separate pavilion, and
22 leading Turkish firms will take part in the event. During the
autumn fair the mixed Turkish-Croatian committee for economic
cooperation will hold its second meeting.
In addition, two specialised fairs on textile and finances will be
organised at the ZV. There will be over 30 seminars, round tables
and gatherings such as the Croatian Economic Forum - a traditional
meeting of Croatia's businessmen with the Premier and ministers.
The Croatian Rail and Croatia Airlines will give 40 percent and 25
discounts respectively on prices of tickets for visitors who come
in Zagreb by train or by air to see the autumn fair.
