IZETBEGOVIC CALLS ON INSTITUTIONS TO IGNORE COURT DECISIONS

SARAJEVO, Sept 8 (Hina) - Member of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency Alija Izetbegovic called on institutions to ignore court decisions pertaining to evictions of refugees currently living in flats which legal tenants had fled. Sarajevo daily "Dnevni Avaz" published a statement issued by Izetbegovic's Office, headlined "Ignore All Eviction Warrants", which read that it wass absolutely unacceptable to evict refugees who had been displaced from their homes and cannot return. "As a member of the BH Presidency, elected by people during free elections, I call on ... everybody to refuse to pass and implement warrants on eviction of refugees who cannot return to their homes, because such warrants are immoral and illegal", the statement read. Another Sarajevo daily, "Oslobodjenje", reported that Izetbegovic gave the statement after an eviction warrant for a Bosniak refugee from the Bosnian Serb entity was issued to evict him from an apartment in Sarajevo. A person of non-Bosniak nationality wanted to return to his pre-war Sarajevo apartment.
