ZAGREB, Aug 15 (Hina) - Pilgrims gathered in towns across Croatia to celebrate Assumption Day on Sunday. Some 20,000 faithful gathered in Aljmas (eastern Croatia) where the Djakovo-Srijem bishop blessed the foundation-stone for a new
church to be built in the town. The old church was devastated by Serb aggressors during the Homeland War. The bishop of Banja Luka Franjo Komarica served Mass in Malve (Bosnia-Herzegovina), recalling the 400,000 exiled Catholics from the area, and stressed the religious holiday should be a holiday of forgiveness. Assumption Day was celebrated in the Croatian towns of Rijeka, Petrinja, Skabrnja, Ilaca (Danubian area), Sinj, Krizevci , Djakovo, several thousand pilgrims arrived in Krasno, and several dozen thousands pilgrimages went to the national shrine in Marija Bistrica where Mass was served by the Zagreb Archbishop, Josip Bozanic, as well as in other towns all over the country.(hina) lml
