ZAGREBACKA BANK SUPPORTS REORGANISATION OF 'SAVRIC'

ZAGREB, July 26 (Hina) - The Zagrebacka bank said in a statement released after Monday's unsuccessful negotiations with a delegation of employees with the furniture factory 'Savric', that it supported the reorganisation of the factory which has gone into bankruptcy, as such a move can preserve a part of jobs in the manufacturing of products for which there is a demand on a market. In case that the current state remains, without reorganisation, all jobs are likely to be lost and the company to be closed. We believe that employees are certainly the biggest victims of the crisis in the firm and the Zagrebacka bank will support, as much as it can, the model of rehabilitation of 'Savric' if the model is accepted by the commercial court and creditors, the bank said. About 300 workers, which have been protesting today, in front of the head offices of the Zagrebacka bank, requested that this bank should not only verbally but also financially back the rehabilitation of 'Savric'. Protesters also demanded that the bank should immediately ensure 3.5 million kuna for back salaries. They insisted that the Zagrebacka bank, which possesses 34 percent of the factory's shares, should assume a clear stand on its financial assistance to the rehabilitation of 'Savric' before tomorrow's meeting in the Economy Ministry.
