KRAS MAKES 2.2 MILLION NET PROFIT

ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - Kras, the Zagreb-based producer of confectionery, including cocoa products, biscuits and sugar candies, made a gross profit of 722 million kuna (98.9 million US dollars) in 1998 or seven million kuna more than in 1997. The net profit of the company was 16.4 million kuna (2.24 million dollars) last year. Shareholders are to decide on the allocation of the realised profit at a general assembly scheduled for 17 July. If shareholders accept a proposal of the Kras management, over 804,000 kuna (over 110 thousand dollars) will be earmarked to the statutory reserves, while 15.28 million kuna (2 million dollars) will be the retained profit. In 1998, Kras manufactured 22,269 tonnes of confectionery, and the production was higher by 2.5 percent than in 1997.
