SARAJEVO, May 20 (Hina) - Special UN Rapporteur for human rights in the region of former Yugoslavia, Jiri Dienstbier, advocates a change of approach of the international community to problems of human rights and their solving in a
comprehensive manner. At a news conference held in Sarajevo on Thursday, Dienstbier said on Thursday a comprehensive strategy for solving the problem of human rights should be adopted, which would be equally valid for the whole region and encompass all relevant aspects, starting from political and economic aspects. We need a comprehensive approach to move on, he said. Dienstbier said the European union and the Council of Europe should get more active in integrating areas of the former Yugoslavia into European structures, but insist on the respect of certain standards. This means the Council of Europe should no longer accept as members countries which do not fulfil the set criteria
