ROME, April 30 (Hina) - A delegation of the Croatian Navy, headed by Admiral Vid Stipetic, is paying a five-day visit to the Italian Navy, at the invitation of Commander Admiral Guarnieri. The Croatian delegation visited several
Italian Navy centres. The two sides agreed on expanding their cooperation. The visit is part of preparations for the signing of an agreement on cooperation between the Croatian and Italian armed forces. Both admirals stressed the visit had been planned much earlier, adding it was a coincidence that it took place during NATO strikes on Serbia. Stipetic told Croatian reporters in Rome that the fact he was paying a visit to Italy was a proof that Croatia was safe despite the events in Kosovo. A Croatian warship is to visit the Italian Navy soon, Stipetic said. The two sides are planning to organise joint military exercises in the Adriatic.(hina) it/rml
