ZAGREB, April 20 (Hina) - The Zagreb County Court on Tuesday
cancelled a hearing, called after the International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) issued the arrest and
extradition warrant for Mladen Naletilic and Vinko Martinovic-
Stele, due to Naletilic's health problems.
Naletilic was transferred from the Court to the prison hospital,
where he was diagnosed with cardiac difficulties and pre-heart-
attack condition.
The County Court postponed the hearing for May 4.
The ICTY accused Naletilic and Martinovic of ethnic cleansing in
Bosnia-Herzegovina, in areas supervised by the Croatian Defence
Council, during 1993.
Naletilic and Martinovic were taken into custody in Croatia and are
being tried before the Zagreb County Court.
The trial against Naletilic for kidnapping, conspiracy to murder
and several other crimes is ongoing, and Vinko Martinovic was at the
end of last sentenced to eight years in prison with the right to
appeal, for murder for personal gain.
As the two do not have permanent residence in Croatia and there is no
local court with jurisdiction to decide on ICTY's request, the
Croatian Supreme Court has engaged the Zagreb County Court to
initiate proceedings for their extradition. Naletilic and
Martinovic are in the Zagreb County Court detention.
