ZAGREB, Feb 19 (Hina) - The Croatian National Parliament House of Representatives at Friday's session appointed Ljubomir Antic as Hina's new main director. Branko Salaj has been relieved fro this duty, at his request. While Antic's
appointment was accepted without discussion, Salaj's relief of duty caused some polemics. Bozo Kovacevic of the Liberal Party held some sections of Salaj's resignation letter stimulated discussion. "Salaj warn that several state and state-connected users (of Hina's services) were stalling paying their debts, due to which Hina is facing a serious financial crisis. We should know who these users are, why they are not paying their debts, and whether they are doing so on purpose," Kovacevic stressed. Commenting on Salaj's claims about a "ideologist tendencies in journalism with connection to the appointment of the new editor-in-chief," Kovacevic said he could not see this in the work of the new editor-

Branko Salaj was suggested to the post of Hina's main director on
September 11, 1997, and the Parliament confirmed his appointment on
December 17, 1997. Salaj handed in his resignation to the
Parliament on February 5, 1999.
Ljubomir Antic was born in 1946 in Sepurine on the island of Prvic
near Sibenik (south Croatia).
He graduated is history and archaeology at the Faculty of
Philosophy in Zagreb, and earned a doctorate at the Faculty of
Philosophy in Zadar.
Antic is an associate professor and Zagreb's Faculty of Philosophy,
teaching journalism in Croatian Studies, and is a regular lecturer
at the Diplomatic Academy.
He published several books, research and other papers, which have
been translated into English, German, Portuguese and Slovenian.
Since 1971 Antic has been working with newspapers, radio and
television.
He wrote for "Studentski list", Zagreb's daily "Vecernji list" from
1972 to 1975, but was suspended for political reasons.
He is a correspondent and editorial office member for several
technical magazines.
Antic was one of the founders of the Croatian Social and Liberal
party (HSLS) and MP, but he resigned membership in the party in
1995.
