World Summit on Social Development within its national programme of
reconstruction and re-establishment of all elements if civil
society, said Croatian Deputy Social Welfare Minister, Vera Babic,
in New York on Tuesday.
The Croatian official addressed a session of the UN social
development commission which considered the implementation of a
campaign launched at the Copenhagen summit three years ago.
Explaining special circumstances of Croatia ensued after the armed
aggression against the country, Babic said Croatia was paying
particular attention to reconciliation and the social
reintegration in the war-affected areas.
According to her, this process is covering not only the renovation
of flats or infrastructure and the rehabilitation of the economy
but also the building of trust, mutual understanding and
coexistence with the full respect to human rights.
Babic acquainted the New York session's participants with other
programmes of her country such as the solution of the housing
problems of the Homeland War victims and the programme for the
return of refugees and displaced people.
