MEDICAL EQUIPMENT DONATED TO VUKOVAR HOSPITAL

VUKOVAR, Jan 29 (Hina) - Medical equipment, including a spirometer, respirator and inhalator, were donated to Vukovar Hospital on Friday. Croatian Ambassador to UNESCO, Vesna Girardi Jurkic, gave the equipment, worth 10,000 German marks, to the Hospital Head, Dr. Vesna Bosanac. This donation for the children's ward was ensured by money collected at a sales exhibition of works of art of Istrian painters, staged in Paris last December. Present at Friday's donation ceremony in Vukovar were Sime Vidulin, one of Istrian artists whose paintings were sold, and Jean Claude Dumont, the president of the French humanitarian society "Ahitie coucy le chateau Croatia", who organised several actions with an aim to help the war-affected Croatian towns. Vesna Girardi-Jurkic announced a humanitarian concert in Paris for this March. The concert proceeds will be allocated to the children's ward. She also announced that several actions will be taken for collecting donations for the reconstruction of the seriously damaged Eltz Castle in Vukovar. Vukovar Mayor and Vukovar County Assembly chairwoman, Ljerka Javor, attended today's ceremony as well. Ambassador Girardi-Jurkic laid a wreath at the Stone Cross at the mouth of the river Vuka into the Danube. (hina) jn ms
