ZAGREB, Jan 20 (Hina) - On Wednesday, an assistant to the Croatian Transport Minister, Mario Babic, and a minister from the Italian Foreign Ministry, Vittorio Paolini, brought into accord texts of a memorandum on shipping in central
and southern Adriatic Sea and on control of ships sailing across the Adriatic. The memorandum will help improve the safety of shipping and contribute to prevention of pollution, read a statement issued by the Croatian Transport Ministry today. The memorandum envisages that all ships transporting dangerous and harmful substances will be obligated to report to national harbour authorities and that their movements will be constantly overseen from the very beginning when they sail into the Adriatic sea until they enter the target harbours.
