ZAGREB, Jan 1 (Hina) - Public peace and order and the general
security of citizens during the Christmas and New Year's holidays
were better than in 1997, the Croatian Interior Ministry's Public
Relations Office said in a report on Friday.
According to reports from police departments, no person was killed
during the recent holidays, even though there were instances of
illegal use of firearms and explosive device.
In transport, 180 major accidents were registered; seven persons
were killed, 55 were seriously and 216 lightly wounded.
