2001 budget, read a statement issued this evening by the Government's public relations office. In relation to the original draft budget, total expenses will be reduced by 2.5 billion kuna, which means that the total budgetary spending will amount to 49 billion and 720 million kuna. This is the first time the budget in the current year will be nominally lower than the budget in the previous year. Current expenditures (material costs, investment maintenance, different services) and capital expenditures have been lessened, as have been expenditures for some social rights.
