ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - Yugoslavia's president is not coming to
Zagreb in a visit to Croatia, but to attend the summit organised by
the European Union, Croatian President Stipe Mesic said on national
television late on Thursday explaining why he did not insist that
Vojislav Kostunica apologise to the people of Croatia.
Asked what he thought of the need for an apology for last decade's
Serb aggression, Mesic said that if Kostunica were visiting Croatia
"then we would demand from (him) something completely different, as
we would from anybody else coming on behalf of the Federal Republic
of Yugoslavia."
Among else, that would mean "that we seek answers to the issue of
succession to the ex-Yugoslavia, answers about what happened to our
citizens who were taken away and went missing on the territory of
the ex-Yugoslavia, answers about the arrests of war criminals who
continue to reside in Serbia," said Mesic.
Kostunica arrives at the invitation of the EU and this means
something else, namely that the EU is telling Serbia and Yugoslavia
what to expect if Yugoslavia democratises, said Mesic.
