ZAGREB, Nov 17 (Hina) - Parliament's Committee on Internal Affairs and National Security welcomes Defence Minister Jozo Rados' decision to resign in the wake of Thursday's tragedy in the Ogulin barracks, saying it is "a honourable and
responsible act." The committee convened today to address yesterday's accident in which 16 draftees were lightly and five seriously injured in an shell explosion. The committee will pose the question of the accountability of the armed forces' main headquarters and its bodies, chairwoman Djurdja Adlesic told reporters after the session. She said the committee had taken note of a report on the accident submitted by Rados and military chief of staff Petar Stipetic. The committee supports all investigative activities taken as to accountability, as well as the suspension of five officers and non-commissioned officers. Upon completion of investigation, the committee will insist on
viewing the results, with special emphasis on the circumstances of
the accident.
Adlesic said the committee urged adjusting Croatian military
standards to those in force in NATO.
