The news item should read as follows: UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY ADOPTS RESOLUTION ON BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA NEW YORK, Nov 14 (Hina) - The UN General Assembly on Tuesday applauded progress achieved in the implementation of Bosnian peace accords and reiterated its demand that the agreements be executed fully, comprehensively and consistently. The General Assembly adopted a Resolution ahead of the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Agreement, which was jointly motioned by 29 countries, including Croatia. The Resolution particularly stresses the need for an accelerated return of refugees and displaced persons to all parts of Bosnia- Herzegovina, the importance of consolidating the freedom and independence of the media, and advocates a quick revival of the economy. Speaking at the Assembly session, Croatian Representative to the UN, Ivan Simonovic, warned about the problem of the return of refugees to the Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Srpska, calling it the biggest omission in the implementation of the peace accords hitherto. He stressed the conduct towards war criminal suspects should be unyielding. The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia must recognise Bosnia- Herzegovina as a sovereign state and without preconditions establish diplomatic relations with it. Moreover, the acceptance of the principle of equality among the five successor states represents the important recognition of existing borders between countries in the region of the former Social Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Simonovic said. True equality among Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia and FRY was confirmed in the text of the Resolution, with a commentary that it was a basis for the establishment of permanent peace and stability in the region. The General Assembly called on all UN member-states to financially and otherwise assist the work of the international war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, and fulfil their commitments in line with the tribunal's statute and relevant General Assembly resolutions. The Resolution furthermore underlines the importance of a speedier including of countries of the region into Europe's political and economic foundation on the basis of individual values and achievements. The UN General Assembly hailed the holding of the Zagreb Summit which will be attended in Zagreb on November 24 by the heads of state and prime ministers of 15 European Union countries, five countries from the Agreement on Stabilisation and Association, as well as delegations from Slovenia and Brussels and three international officials.
