Bacin near Hrvatska Dubica, 80km south-east of Zagreb, is the site of the second largest mass grave discovered in Croatia, from which 56 bodies were exhumed, civilians from Hrvatska Dubica and nearby Cerovljani, killed by Serb units. The victims' remains were exhumed over March and April 1997. The oldest victim was aged 90, the youngest 41, while the others were people aged between 70 and 80. The victims had been taken away from their homes and killed in Bacin during the ethnic cleansing of the area of Croats and Catholics, non-Serbs and Serbs opposed to self-proclaimed Serb authorities in this formerly occupied area.(hina) ha jn
