ZAGREB, Oct 30 (Hina) - The European Commission has presented eight Croatian non-governmental organisations with a EUR200,000 donation, the commission said in a statement on Monday. The eight organisations were awarded for their
contributions in the education, return and social reintegration of refugees and displaced persons to formerly war-stricken areas. The European Commission started assisting war-stricken areas in Croatia in 1996. Its funds are intended for projects which usually fail to attract big international donors but should contribute to ethnic reconciliation, refugee returns, creating and developing a normal market, promoting education and NGO activity, and the development of independent media.(hina) ha
