NEW YORK, Sept 14 (Hina) - During his participation in the UN General Assembly's 55th annual session, Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino Picula met his German counterpart Joschka Fischer in New York on Thursday. Their talks focused on
the situation in southeastern Europe, the election in Yugoslavia (Serbia/Montenegro) set for 24 September, and on the November summit within the Stability Pact which will take place in Zagreb. Picula informed German minister of preparations and Croatia's expectations from that meeting. He urged that the European Union should show a clear stand towards countries which have not yet been institutionally linked with the EU. Regarding numerous initiatives given so far for southeastern Europe, the German diplomacy has been treating French President Jacques Chirac's initial idea with some caution, as Berlin does not regard the multiplication of projects as productive.(hina) ms
