ZAGREB, Sept 5 (Hina) - No charges have been filed against anyone
from the Tudjman family to the Croatian State Prosecutor's Office,
Croatian Deputy State Prosecutor Slavko Zadnik said Tuesday.
Zadnik said this to Hina after he was asked to comment on an
interview Croatian President Stipe Mesic gave to The New York Times
in which the President said that in Croatia investigations were
being conducted regarding several cases which involved members of
the Tudjman family.
No charges have been filed to the Municipal nor the County State
Prosecutor's Office, Zadnik said.
He had no information on whether an investigation was being
conducted by the police or some financial authorised body.
Spokesman of the Croatian Interior Ministry Slavko Rako refused to
comment on possible investigations against members of the Tudjman
family.
Miroslav Tudjman, the son of the late Croatian President, Franjo
Tudjman, denied on Tuesday on the Croatian radio that certain
members of his family gained fortune in an illegal way.
He reiterated that his family in February demanded that the
Croatian Government investigate all data regarding the state of
assets of all members of the family which were forwarded to the
Government.
According to Miroslav Tudjman, the data show that nobody from the
Tudjman family gained property through privatisation, therefore
there are no grounds for speculation.
Miroslav Tudjman expects the Government to vote its opinion on the
issue in the near future.
