SARAJEVO, Sept 1 (Hina) - Teams of experts appointed by the
governments of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina have harmonised the
draft of a new Croatia-BH social insurance agreement which might
come into effect early next year.
Sarajevo-based media have reported on Friday that after four days
of negotiations in Lukavica near BH's capital, the heads of the two
expert teams have confirmed that all contentious issues have been
cleared and that a method has been formulated enabling the two
countries' citizens, temporarily or permanently residing in the
other state, to exercise social and retirement rights.
BH's Minister for Civil Affairs and Communications Issues Tihomir
Gligoric has explained the new agreement will establish the
equality of territory as regards years of service realised on
Croatian, or BH territory.
The years of service will be calculated uniformly regardless of
where they were realised, thus making it possible to regulate all
rights in either of the two states.
The head of the Croatian team of experts Ruzica Terze has said the
draft agreement also determines ways of enforcing legal provisions
and the parties these refer to. This is further guarantee to the
citizens of Croatia and BH that rights in pension scheme and
disability insurance will be equalized, she stated.
Terze believes the agreement will have special significance for
pensioners whose right to complete health care will now be
guaranteed.
After ratification, the draft agreement will be forwarded into
parliamentary procedure.
Zdravko Bartl, the head of BH's team of experts, expects the
agreement will formally be signed by year's end and come into effect
on January 1.
