ZAGREB, Aug 31 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic told Thursday's press conference he would not attend the opening of the Olympic Games in Sydney. He wished luck to Croatian athletes at the Olympic Games, which are to start in
mid September. Commenting on his not attending the opening of the Olympics, Mesic said it was financially impossible in such complicated economic circumstances in which a part of the nation was struggling for the survival. The President explained he could have not gone on the trip alone, but with associates and security. "I cannot go alone, the security must go too, in case somebody from Gospic decided to show up in Australia as well", said the President alluding to the assassination of Milan Levar who testified before ICTY investigators in connection with alleged crimes committed against Serb civilians in Gospic. Levar was killed this Monday after a bomb went off in the yard
