Marathon 2000" drew 29 swimmers from 14 countries.
STARIGRAD, Aug 26 (Hina) - A Spaniard, David Meca Medina, and a
German, Angela Maurer, won the 25th international marathon race in
swimming, which took place on Saturday off the Croatian island of
Hvar.
The competition called "Faros Marathon 2000" drew 29 swimmers from

The Spaniard covered the 15,760-metre-long section for three hours
six minutes and 42 seconds.
The best Croatian athlete, Stjepan Pticar, was placed the fifth
with the time 3:16,20.
The best female swimmer Maurer was the sixth in the overall
standings. It took three hours 27 minutes and 57 seconds for her to
reach the finish. The best Croatian female swimmer, Slavica
Ozretic, was placed the ninth on aggregate, but she was the fourth
best female competitor with the 3:34,12 time.
