VUKOVAR-SRIJEM COUNTY VUKOVAR, Aug 10 (Hina) - By the end of last month 26,634 refugees have returned to the eastern Croatian Vukovar-Srijem County, or 51,5 per cent of people who resided there in 1991. In comparison to data since
February this year the number of returnees has increased by 1,889 persons, or some three hundred a month, which is less than in previous periods when some five hundred persons would return per month. The reason for the slowed down return lays in the bad economic situation in the Danubian area and slow process of reconstruction. The biggest number of returnees were registered in rural areas where reconstruction began first, as well as in areas in which most returnees worked as farmers before the war.(hina) lml
