In a letter to US congressmen, Clinton says that since his previous
report in January this year the number of US troops in Bosnia-
Herzegovina has been reduced by 1,600 soldiers and officers. The US
troops, whose command is based in Tuzla, now account for 19 percent

Clinton also informs Congress that about 1,000 US army members are
stationed in Croatia, Italy and Hungary, from where they are
providing logistical and other support to troops in Bosnia.
The US president estimates that the presence of stabilisation
forces since December 1996 has enabled complete stabilisation of
the situation and the cessation of all hostilities in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, as well as the implementation of the Dayton peace
accords.
