CAKOVEC, July 3 (Hina) - Medjimurje County Prefect Branko Levacic on Monday declared the state of natural disaster for the entire county due to drought. Due to insufficient rain and water shortage, barley, wheat, potato, onion, carrot
and other vegetable yields as well as apple, pear and other fruit yields will decrease by about 35-50 percent. According to current estimates, damage caused by drought amounts to 44 million kuna. The most developed Medjimurje municipality, Belica, the centre of Croatia's potato production, suffered damage amounting to almost 12 million kuna. A detailed assessment of damage will be carried out by municipal, town and county commissions.(hina) rml
