Prime Minister Zeljka Antunovic, is attending the 24th special
session of the UN General Assembly on social development and
globalization, the Croatian Government's public relations office
reported.
On Thursday Antunovic held a speech on social impacts of
globalization, and advocated that international organisations of
social orientation such as the United Nations or the International
Labour Organisation (ILO) develop firmer ties with international
financial and trading institutions.
Addressing the session in Geneva, she said the primarily economic
interest of international financial institutions should also
incorporate social components.
In this context, Antunovic highlighted problems which Croatia
faced and pointed to the situation when a country like her homeland
did not only see the challenge of globalization but also had to
undergo a more difficult process owing to war and transition.
