ZAGREB ZAGREB, June 25 (Hina) - A Canadian film entitled "When the Day Breaks" directed by Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis won the Grand Prix of the World Festival of Animated Films which has taken place in Zagreb since 21 June. The
14th world festival's jury announced awards on Sunday afternoon prior to the end of the festival this evening. The nine-minute long animated cartoon is about (a pig) Ruby's attempts to seek affirmation in the city around her, and find it in surprising places, after having witnessed the accidental death of a stranger 'mister' cock. The Canadian authors Tilby and Forbis received 20,000 kuna (approximately 5,000 German marks). In the Category A of films which last between 30 seconds and six minutes, the first prize was conferred on Italian director Roberto Catani for his work "La Sagra". of the World Festival of Animated Films which has taken place in

The 14th world festival's jury announced awards on Sunday afternoon

In the Category A of films which last between 30 seconds and six
minutes, the first prize was conferred on Italian director Roberto
Catani for his work "La Sagra". The second prize was give to the film
entitled "Whatever It Takes" by American Joanna Quinn.
The best film in the Category B of movies between six and 15 minutes
was "At the Ends of the Earth" by French Konstantin Bronzit. The
second prize was given to "Village of Idiots" directed by Canadian
Eugene Fedorenko and Rosa Newlove.
"The Old Man and the Sea" directed by Canadian Alexander Petrov was
proclaimed as the best film in the Category C of films which last
between 15 and 30 minutes. The second prize was given to the film
entitled "Ring of Fire" by German Andreas Hykade.
The award entitled "Zlatko Grgic" for the best first production
(Film Debut) was given to German Steffan Schaeffler for his film
"The Periwig-Maker".
The first money award for the aforementioned categories and for the
film debut amount to 10,000 kuna (2,500 German marks).
The Croatian Association of Film Critics gave its award to "At the
Ends of the Earth" by Konstantin Bronzit.
Members of the 14th festival were Israeli Tsvika Oren, American
Bill Plympton, Russian Gari Bardin, Japanese Fusako Yusaki and
Croatian Mato Kukuljica.
This year, a traditional award of the public was not included in the
prizes and the Festival's director Dragan Svaco pinned the blame to
the organisers for such a failure.
