ZAGREB'S MAYOR AND CITY ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT ZAGREB, May 31 (Hina) - The newly-elected Mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandic, was born on November 22, 1955 in Grude (Bosnia-Herzegovina). He has been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) since its establishment in 1990. Prior to his election he performed the duties of president of Zagreb's SDP and member of parliament. During two mandates from 1955 until 1997 and from 1997 until March 10, 2000 he was a councillor and president of the SDP Zagreb Assembly party bench. From November 1997 he performed the duty of president of the SDP Zagreb City Organisation. Franjo Zenko was born in 1931 in Adamovec, near Zagreb. He earned a doctorate degree in philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar. Zenko is the co-founder of the Croatian Social Liberal party (HSLS), 1989, in which he performed senior party duties. At the beginning of his professor career in 1996, Zenko was forbidden to lecture because of his "ant-marxism", and was arrested the same year for his attempt to establish an independent magazine. Following detention in autumn of 1967 for alleged "hostile acts" he was unemployed for three and a half years. He worked from autumn 1970 at the Zagreb University's Institute of Philosophy and came to the highest degree of scientific advisor.
