Ivo Sanader asserted Wednesday a special psychological war was
being waged against members of the HDZ.
"Barging into the homes of three renowned public officials without
an announcement or a warrant to check if they owned any weapons is a
vivid example of the unacceptable and anti-constitutional
behaviour of the new authorities," Sanader told a news conference,
adding the HDZ would alert the international public and the World
Veteran Association.
Police recently entered the homes of three HDZ officials, generals
Janko Bobetko and Ivan Tolj, and Hrvoje Sosic, without prior
announcement or warrants, searching for weapons.
Sanader called on Prime Minister Ivica Racan to explain his
statement given to the Italian press that "the HDZ is under
investigation for corruption".
The HDZ, Sanader asserted, wants a stable political situation in
the country, but does not accept the new government's policy of
radicalisation of Croatia's political life.
At the news conference HDZ leaders spoke about a number of
irregularities committed by the new government, stressing that
"people are being ousted from office without explanation,
according to affiliation, not (non-)expretise or
(in)competence".
HDZ parliament party bench president, Vladimir Seks, described the
mentioned events as "a very dangerous social state which has the
markings of political action against the HDZ".
