ASB AGENCY HANDS RETURNEES TO W. SLAVONIA KEYS TO NEWLY-BUILT HOUSES

BRESTOVAC, May 23 (Hina) - Representatives of the regional office of the German non-governmental agency Arbeiter Samariter Bund/EC in Daruvar on Tuesday handed the keys to newly-built houses to nine returnee families to three settlements in the western Slavonian municipality of Brestovac. At the end of last year, Brestovac municipality joined an European Union programme for the reconstruction of family houses and return, which is being implemented by the ASB Office and which includes the reconstruction of 27 housing facilities. The 800,000-Euro-worth project also includes the reconstruction of infrastructure. A total of 27 family houses have been built in Brestovac municipality since the beginning of this year and last year 22 were constructed. The construction of a regional school in Zakorenje settlement, which is also financed by the EU, with the assistance of the British government, should be completed this month. The project also includes the construction of houses in Oblakovac and Gucani settlements. The head of the ASB/EC office, Aleksandra Basta, said more houses would be reconstructed in Brestovac municipality in line with certificates on reconstruction. (hina) rml
