HT INTRODUCES NEW CRONET WAP TECHNOLOGY SERVICE

ZAGREB, May 23 (Hina) - Croatian Telecommunications (HT) have on Tuesday introduced a new service for GSM users, Cronet WAP (wireless application protocol) which enables surfing the Internet via mobile telephones. Presenting the new service at Tuesday's news conference, HT management board chairman Ivica Mudrinic said this was an important achievement for Cronet, with which Croatian telecommunications is in the line with the most developed global systems, an Croatia is one of five European countries who have introduced this service. The promotive functioning of the service will be in effect for 60 days. Service users will be able to, via the Internet portal of the Hej company, search the Internet looking for weather reports, currency exchange rates, stock prices and other service information. As the service develops, special services will be introduced, such as Internet shopping, banking transactions and so on.

The company, together with the Government is preparing a public bid for another 35 per cent of shares.
