ZAGREB, May 18 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic on Thursday received a delegation of the Democratic Alliance of Croats in the northern Yugoslav province of Vojvodina, headed by Bela Tonkovic, with whom the President held talks
on the situation of the Croat minority in Vojvodina. After the talks with the Croatian President, Tonkovic told reporters that of all problems Croats in Vojvodina were facing, the most difficult ones were those of economic manner. "Poverty strikes everyone, and most of all minorities, us Croats", Tonkovic said. When asked whether there was any progress in the realisation of a cultural autonomy in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, since they were not able to realise the minority rights, Tonkovic said that the "Yugoslav authority was cemented and not ready for any kind of talks or progress".(hina) it jn
