DRAFT LAW ON HRT RECEIVED SUPPORT BY MPS

ZAGREB, May 8 (Hina) - The Croatian National Parliament's House of Representatives' Committee for Legislature on Tuesday supported the final bill on the equal official use of languages and scripts of national minorities. The final version of the bill contains a provision by which minority languages could be used at the public registrar's office, but omitted the possibility of towns and municipalities establishing bigger rights than those stipulated by the law with their statutes. The bill, as well as the final bill on education in minority languages, were also supported by the Parliament's Committee for Legislature. The Committee endorsed a bill on the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) as motioned by Jadranka Kosor of the Croatian Democratic Union, which is in fact a motion of the Council for the HRT from the former mandate.
