WESTERN EUROPEAN UNION HELPS DEMINING PROJECTS IN CROATIA

SISAK, May 5 (Hina) - A reception for members of the western European union for aid in demining (WEUDAM) mission to Croatia was thrown in the Croatian Mine Action Centre in the central Croatian town of Sisak Friday. The reception was organised on the occasion of the regular replacement of members of the mission headed by Swedish Colonel Olle Broman. Representative of the Croatian Mine Action Centre Josip Tulicic thanked members of the mission for their help and support in the implementation of the humanitarian demining and the struggle against mines, and added that the mutual exchange of knowledge and experience contributed to the overall development of demining system. Thanks to the mission, the Croatian Mine Action Centre received many donations for demining. Norway donated the most up-to-date equipment for data base on mine fields, Germany donated metal detectors, and other countries of the Western European Union contributed. According to Broman, the system of humanitarian demining in Croatia is very good, its among the better ones in the world. He added that the WEUDAM mission to Croatia would continue to work on its promotion. The WEUDAM mission to Croatia will remain here for another year, and the current members will be replaced by new envoys of their countries. (hina) it jn
