The US officials were interested in the current political and economic situation in Croatia, as well as in the situation in the region, the Government said in a statement. "We are aware of Croatia's important role in this part of Europe and the responsibility which arises from that role. The Croatian Government favours good cooperation with its neighbours, it actively supports the Stability Pact and wants to have some influence on stability and peace in the region," Racan said. It was stressed during the talks that the United States and Croatia had a good military cooperation and that the USA was interested in a good economic partnership with Croatia. The US delegation welcomed Croatia's cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal. Croatia can doubtlessly contribute to the stabilisation of the political situation in the region, the US delegation said. Welcoming the courage and determination of the Croatian government to implement reforms, Senator Hutchinson stressed the USA supported Croatia's efforts. The two sides expressed a mutual wish for the two countries to continue and improve their good relations and cooperation. (hina) mm rml
