RIJEKA, April 17 (Hina) - Reporters and other employees with EDIT, a newspaper-publishing house of Croatia's Italian minority, on Monday morning started a one-day strike protesting against the failure of their employer to join talks
on the signing of a collective agreement. EDIT, which was established by the Croatian government, publishes a daily in Italian called 'La voce del popolo.' The president of the branch journalists' union at EDIT, Erik Fabijanic, said the union was willing to discontinue the strike as soon as the employer appointed its representative in collective negotiations and as soon as a clear agreement on the start of negotiations was reached with that representative. In case the strike resumes throughout the afternoon, La voce del popolo will not hit the news-stands in its integral form, Fabijanic said.(hina) jn rml
