ZAGREB, March 25 (Hina) - Last year, Croatia registered a deficit of almost $277.9 million in the exchange of agricultural produce and food. Last year's deficit in this kind of commodity trade is smaller by $44 million as against
1998, according to data of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. In 1999 Croatia exported foodstuffs and agricultural products, worth $418.37 million or 20.8 percent less in comparison to 1998. Imports in this field fell by 18.2 percent to $696.27 million. This kind of import made out 8.95 percent of the total import of Croatia last year, while the export constituted 9.78 percent. The most important exported good was a spice 'vegeta' and its sale out of Croatia totalled $41.6 million. In 1999 the most significant imported goods were produce which Croatia does not grow - green coffee with almost $39 million dollars and bananas with $19.27 million
