ZAGREB, March 14 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) believes the draft state budget for 2000 is close to reality since it considerably exceeds the amounts promised in the pre- and post-election period, but the way it was
arrived at should have been far more transparent, HDZ National Committee member Djuro Njavro told reporters on Tuesday. The HDZ will seek higher earmarking for some budgetary items, Njavro said, adding he was certain other parliamentary parties would also put forward remarks to the draft. It is in the interest of all that the budget be adopted with as much harmony as possible, he said.
